Ronda Rousey, the former female UFC powerhouse, made her WWE debut earlier this week.

Rousey, a star of the UFC a few years back, made the transition to the wrestling world. Once a notable name in the mixed martial arts arena, Rousey decided to make the switch to wrestling.  Rousey is contributed with changing the world of MMA throughout her four short years in the industry. She became a pop culture figure starting her career off with twelve wins and zero losses. She quickly rose to one of the most notable faces in the UFC.

Just last month, Rousey broke the news to the world of her departure from MMA and transition into WWE.

"This is my life now. First priority on my timeline for the next several years. This is not a smash-and-grab; this is not a publicity stunt," Rousey told ESPN's Ramona Shelburne of her decision to join WWE. "When I first met with Triple H, I told him, 'There are other things I can do with my time that'll make way more money, but I won't enjoy nearly as much.'"

This is a very different tone than the public has seen from Rousey in the past few years. In 2016, Rousey appeared on “The Ellen Show” where she discussed her MMA loss to Holly Holm. On the show, she divulged to the world her contemplation of suicide after the loss.

“What am I anymore if I’m not this?” Rousey told Ellen during the 2016 show. “I was literally sitting there thinking about killing myself.”

Rousey was a completely different person when entering the WWE industry last month.

"I'm so happy and I don't have words for it,” Rousey announced to the world at her contract signing last month. “I usually have words for everything, this never happened before.”

Rousey’s transition into WWE has been hinted at for several years. Although expected by some, Rousey’s contract signing still shocked fans of both the UFC and the WWE. Rousey was a longtime fan of the WWE and it was foreseen that she would enter the wrestling world.

“It's kind of like acting, in that it was something I always wanted to do but I never thought was in the cards for me," Rousey told Shelburne of wanting to wrestle professionally. "And now that I realize I really do have this opportunity, I feel like my 6-year-old self would totally kick my ass if I didn't take it."

Despite high anticipation, WWE ratings dropped during Rousey’s debut. Approximately 2.88 million viewers watched the ex-UFC star’s first appearance in wrestling. This is down from the 3.41 million viewers that tuned in at the top of the hour.

Rousey, whose segment included Triple H, Stephanie McMahon, and Kurt Angle, rounded out the show. Although a drop in viewership, Raw still finished first for the night on cable.

As of now, it has not been confirmed when Rousey will make her next appearance for WWE.
