Preparing for Behrend's graduate school and your future

On Tuesday, February 20th, and Wednesday, February 28th, Penn State Behrend will be hosting two spring information sessions for anyone interested in learning more about the graduate programs offered on campus.

Penn State Behrend currently offers five master’s degrees for students interested in furthering their education. At present Behrend offers degrees in Applied Clinical Psychology (M.A.), Business Administration (M.B.A.), Manufacturing Management (M.M.M.), Professional Accounting (M.P.Acc.) and Project Management (M.P.M).

The programs are designed to allow students to choose full time education finishing the programs in one academic year, but also offer the courses in a manner which allows students to work part time while completing their schooling.  The information sessions which will be held in a few weeks will be discussing the various degree programs offered and the best options for students. Faculty will present to discuss the curriculum and class options, and graduate admissions counclors will share information about admissions requirements, the application process, tuition reimbursement and financial aid resources for graduate study.

One of the degrees offered is the Applied Clinical Psychology degree, which is offered to students who are interested in working in inpatient and outpatient counseling settings. The degree is provided through resident lectures here on Behrends campus. The degree is research-based. Students looking to apply must have a 3.0 GPA or higher and must have attained at least 60 credits of coursework with 18 of those credits being in psychology as part of their bachelor's degree.

Other degrees provided on campus by resident lecture include the Manufacturing Management Program and the Professional Accounting master's degree. The Manufacturing Management Program focuses on educating professionals who desire to develop their manufacturing knowledge while advancing their engineering and management skills. This programs lectures are often held in the evening, and is a 30 credit degree.

The Professional Accounting masters degree is offered to students via resident lecture offered in the late afternoon and evening classes. This program is also 30 credits and is created to be flexible with full time or part time students. The degree meets requirements for Certified Public Accountant licensure which states that 150 hours of education must be completed to gain entry into the accounting profession.

The other degrees offered by Behrend are more flexible for students looking to complete their studies while working. The Masters of Business Administration is 75% online work with the last 25% held for resident lectures which are held in the evenings. Students who are living closer to Pittsburgh have the option of attending classes near their home by attending lecture at the Regional Learning Alliance in Cranberry Woods.

Lastly Project management Masters degree is offered fully through online classes. The degree is 30 credits, designed to help professionals develop skills in leadership,resource planning, and management. The program is accredited by Association to Advance Collegiate Schools of Business an accreditation only 5% of business schools can boast.
