Bringing Behrend’s attention to organizations beyond the plethora that we are lucky enough to have on campus - There are a vast number of groups in the area that are always both serving the needs of the community and accepting volunteers. Whether this sparks your interest for the assets you need or those you are able to provide, never forget to look further than what is readily available!

Organization: Multicultural Community Resource Center (MCRC)

Mission: “To facilitate the educational, social, political, and economic progress of the communities we serve. We will work to break down cultural barriers due to language, appearance, or ethnic traditions. We will actively promote and advocate the development, empowerment, and advancement of all people while preserving their cultural identity. We will work to educate the community to value diversity.”

Needs: The MCRC is looking for volunteers from a wide range of skill sets. Opportunities to serve as classroom aides, maintenance, housekeepers, website managers, client support, fundraising assistants, gardeners and ground maintenance, case managers, office and secretaries, day care, job readiness assistants, and board or subcommittee members are all available at the organization. There are also, with proper prior commitment, positions for unpaid internships to be inquired about.
