Bringing Behrend’s attention to organizations beyond the plethora that we are lucky enough to have on campus, there are a vast number of groups in the area that are always both serving the needs of the community and accepting volunteers. Whether this sparks your interest for the assets you need or those you are able to provide, never forget to look further than what is readily available!

Organization: Environment Erie

Mission: “Environment Erie is committed to the sustainability of our community’s natural resources through restoration, revitalization, and education.” The organization is a wide-reaching community asset that has brought environmental education all across Erie county through a wide variety of programs and activities.

Opportunities: Volunteers are able to take part in administrative work, fundraising, special event coordinating, youth mentoring, after school program facilitation, and any of the already up-and-running community projects. There is a calendar of events on the website showing at least two events each day for the month of October.

Location: Tom Ridge Environmental Center 301 Peninsula Drive, Suite 5 Erie, PA 16505
