It was a on and off week in Behrend sports this past week.  In soccer, the Lions took on Pitt-Greenburg in the women’s AMCC opener this past weekend.  The Lions would go on to win by a 3-0 shutout Saturday afternoon.  The lion’s offense looked fluent as they scored all three of their goals in the first half of play.  Oblerlander was responsible for one goal, and Belack would finish with two goals on the day.  This is a good win for Behrend, especially after coming off a 2-1 loss last week at the hands of Oswega.

They will attempt to sustain their win streak when they return to the field Tuesday to face D’Youville.

The men’s soccer team was also victorious as they faced off against Pitt-Greenburg Saturday afternoon.  Winning in shut out fashion, the team would go on to win by the score of 3-0.  With two goals coming in the first half, followed by one goal in the second half, the Lions jump to a 6-3 record on the season.  Sophomore Andrew Mastovich kicked it off with his first goal just 20 minutes into the game.  Mastovich would go on to score again around the 31’ mark, giving him his second goal of the game. Ryan Segar would also score in the second half, giving the Lions a 3 goal lead, that would ultimately result in the shutout victory.

In volleyball, the women’s team won 2 of their matches Saturday as they faced off against Alfred State.  They would win by the respective scores of 25-20, 25-11, 25-14. Amanda Henry would lead the Lions with 14 kills, with Keely Hering bringing up the pass at 7 kills.  They would also face off against Lyndon State later that night, where they would also sweep the match by scores of 25-7, 25-7, 25-8, respectively.  In this dominant match victory, Lexi Irvin lead Behrend with 11 assist and 6 kills.  Lion volleyball will continue Wednesday against Pitt-Bradford at 7 p.m.

In tennis, the men’s and women’s teams faced off against Geneva on Saturday afternoon.  They were defeated, the men falling in an 8-1 loss, while the women fell in a 9-0 loss.  The women’s team will continue play Friday when they face off against Franciscan at 4 p.m.  The men are not scheduled to play until October 6th when they face off against Alfred at 3:30 p.m.
