Suit up for
"Kingsman: The Golden Circle"

“Kingsman: the Golden Circle,” returns bigger and better, with action-packed fun with slick and inventive flair.

The sequel to the 2014 film, “Kingsman: the Secret Spy,” overshadowed the first installment with a refreshing taste of futuristic and mind-blowing action scenes. Secret agent, Eggsy, played by Taron Egerton, returns with a hilarious cast, including Colin Firth, Julianne Moore, Channing Tatum, Halle Berry, Mark Strong and a surprise guest star, Elton John, who stole the laughs.

It’s safe to say that the plot of this film does not thicken, leaving viewers with the typical “James Bond” super-spy kind of story. However, the film exhibits some impressive and extremely entertaining fight choreography by the vast majority of the actors. Within the first five minutes, the action is kicked into high gear to give the audience a taste of what promises to be an absolute thrill.

After the Kingsman headquarters are destroyed, members of Kingsman travel to the United States to discover another spy organization known as Statesman. The two organizations band together to defeat an evil woman, Poppy, played by Julianne Moore, who plays a drug baron living in a hidden jungle outpost, constructed in a 1950’s American style town. Once a drug that causes symptoms which lead to death is released to the public, it’s up to the two organizations to save civilization.

Although the standardized plot mirrors several other spy films, luckily, the brilliant cast and one-shot fighting scenes make up for the dull storyline.

As much as the themes of “Kingsman: the Golden Circle” can be serious and suspenseful, a healthy dose of comic relief is thrown into the mix. Even during the most intense and nail-biting moments, you can count on something to conjure up a laugh. At the same time, this does not not take away from any of the quality; the funny and the serious walk hand-in-hand throughout the film is refreshing.

While the film attempts to deliver an interesting and compelling story, its biggest takeaways are the fantastically dazzling fight choreography and fight sequences, as well as the non-stop laughs throughout. Kingsmen appeared to know exactly what it was doing from the start; making it obvious that it intended to deliver a fun, hilarious, and action-packed product, and that is exactly what its viewers received. “Kingsman: the Golden Circle” certainly hit the mark in my book.

If you are looking for another James Bond, then prepare for something just as exciting, if only more on the humorous side. “Kingsman: the Golden Circle,” delivers just enough originality to succeed beyond the standard genre of what is expected of spy films, without losing the core essence of what it is, first and foremost, a spin-off of the classic spy-esque entertainment.
