The Carmelo Anthony saga continues

With the NBA season just about a month away, the drama still continues in the Big Apple.  It seems the New York Knicks are still unaware of what direction they will be going into, as it pertains to Carmelo Anthony.  Carmelo is currently signed to a 5 year deal worth just under $125 million.  The former Knicks President, Phil Jackson has candidly expressed to the media that he feels Anthony should not return to the Knicks next season.  He is currently has a no trade clause in his contract.  A no trade clause is an amendment in a contract pertaining to athletes that states a player may not be traded to another team without the player's consent, so it is up to Anthony where he goes.  Anthony will have satisfied his contract in 2019, after which he will be a free agent.  With Anthony being one of the premier players in the league, the Knicks would like to get someone or something valuable for him before he walks away.

The question everyone wants to know, where will Melo land?  He does have a few options.  He can wait to become a free agent in 2019, then freely sign to any team in the league.  He also could waive his no trade clause, allowing the Knicks to do what is ultimately best for them by trading him to any team they choose.  Many people speculate he may want to team up with King James and the Cleveland Cavaliers to try to overthrow Kevin Durant and the Golden State Warriors.  The Cavs have showed interest in Melo, but have failed to reach any sort of deal at the moment.  Although this Cleveland may be a great fit for Melo, questions still linger about where he will eventually end up.  Critics also suggest he may want to take his talents to Los Angeles and join the young Lakers for a shot at an NBA title.  The Houston Rockets have also showed interest in Melo.  The NBA season is set to begin October 17, 2017.  Stay tuned to see how it all unfolds as the Carmelo Saga in New York continues.
