TetherBox is a fledgling company that sends college students care packages with unique products. TetherBox was founded by Lynn Holdsworth and Carrie Kim Steuer in September 2016. The company is a new twist on care packages, at TetherBox they understand that not everyone has the time to create a care package for their young loved ones, and knowing what to put in the package is another task altogether.

Tetherbox allows loved ones to send a care package without the hassle. Loved ones have a few options when it comes to sending care packages, they can sign up for a semester or year subscription of boxes, they can also do a month to month subscription.

Every month TetherBox puts packages together that consist of 5-7 items including snacks, personal care products, and fun new gadgets. Every package ranges from $40-$60, depending on the contents and size. The company picks the items based off of opinions given to them by their student ambassadors, always staying on the cutting edge of new trends. Tetherbox is partnered with 43 different companies, and is growing allowing them to find products students love, including treats that are gluten free, and personal care products that are cruelty free.

TetherBox also caters to students with food allergies by providing gluten and nut free boxes. Holdsworth explained that their mission is twofold,  “First, find unique content for each monthly box that college students will love and second, provide a fun, easy and affordable service that allows loved ones to send the perfect gift”.

Tetherbox also offers students the chance to win a $1,000 scholarship by creating a creative video that is “unique, creative, funny, heartwarming or informational commercial for TetherBox”. The scholarship is open to full-time student attending or planning on attending an accredited four-year institution within the United States along with, high school seniors.

Since their launch in September 2016, TetherBox has seen a 159% increase in their subscribers/growth rate. Their latest accomplishment for TetherBox was their collaboration with Belmont University. Belmont and Tetherbox confirmed their collaboration this September when Dr. Anthony Donovan, Associate Dean of Students and Director of Residence Life stated that, “The quality, flexibility and affordability of TetherBox care packages, and the fact that they offer nut free and gluten free options, make them a great fit for Belmont.” according to Tetherbox’s Blog.

In their blog release, Holdsworth stated “We are thrilled to be partnering with such an amazing institution as Belmont University...The Belmont team has been wonderful and we’re excited to deliver the best possible product and customer service experience to the students and their families.”
