As of September 18, 2017, Adobe Creative Cloud (CC) is available to all Penn State students and faculty members at no additional cost. Through the full suite of Adobe CC products, students and faculty members have access to a host of creative tools for digital imaging, design, web, and video, as well as online services including 20GB of storage.

On September 19, 2017, president Barron sent an email to all university students at every campus showing his support for the program, calling it “ an essential toolkit for ALL professions”. The  partnership with Adobe is designed to give students a competitive advantage in the workplace. As clearly outlined in Penn State’s strategic plan, the university is committed to “preparing students for success in the digital age.” This initiative will do just that, while it connects the Penn State strategic plan’s elements of driving digital innovation, transforming education and student engagement. Penn State is committed to equipping students with the digital fluency skills needed to join the future workforce, and this partnership with Adobe will help strengthen these skills University-wide.

Through these creative tools, students can grow beyond simply understanding how to use technology tools to becoming fluent digital creators. For faculty members, the Adobe CC suite allows for innovation in the classroom and enhancements to course curriculums. Best of all, the latest updates, new features, apps, and services are available as soon as they’re released.

The Adobe CC software is available to the Penn State community through an Adobe Enterprise subscription model. To begin the installation process, you need to uninstall all old Adobe products from your computer. Then, begin downloading the article by visiting adobe.psu.edu and click through to download the software.

The Creative Cloud suite of products includes such digital tools as Photoshop, InDesign, Spark, Illustrator, and more. For software-specific resources, view the guides and tutorials listed below each tool.

Beginner’s Guides are Adobe-provided tutorials covering basic features for new users. For a deeper dive on the capabilities of each tool, check out the lynda.com Essential Tutorials by logging in with your Penn State Access Account. You can also view tutorials and walkthroughs created by Penn State’s Media Commons as well as register for in-person training.

The program can be installed on up to two systems per student account. Just be aware that if you disable cloud storage synchronization, the data files created on each system will not be automatically updated on all systems; they will only be stored locally.

Once your Penn State Access Account is deactivated, you will no longer be able to log in to the Adobe CC applications with your University email address. If you would like to continue using Adobe CC after your departure, Adobe has several options available for purchase.

“Today’s workforce is rapidly changing, and it’s our goal to give Penn State students the competitive edge through powerful digital tools and resources,” said Michael Kubit, vice president for Information Technology and chief information officer. “Through the wide range of products available in the Adobe Creative Cloud, students from all programs can develop digital competencies that will help them grow beyond simply understanding how to use technology tools to becoming fluent digital creators.”

For faculty members, the Adobe CC suite allows for innovation in the classroom and enhancements to course curriculums. Best of all, the latest updates, new features, applications and services are available as soon as they’re released. This new agreement will help foster creativity in the classroom, encourage critical thinking and collaboration skills among students, and forward the University’s goals as a worldwide leader in research and academics.
