Everything announced at Apple's keynote event

Last Tuesday Apple officially presented their latest devices and software to the public, unveiling three iPhones, a new Apple TV and some Apple Watches. The keynote has sparked both interest and controversy, as most recent Apple events have.

The iPhone X is the target of most of the criticism from this event. The new smartphone features a 5.8 inch screen that covers almost all of the front of the device, even encircling the front camera and phone speaker at the top, and completely omitting the home button commonly found at the bottom of the device. Some interesting features were implemented into the cameras as well, including 3D modeling abilities, lossless optical zoom, and enhanced facial recognition technology.

Wireless charging has also been introduced in this iteration of the device, allowing customers to place their smartphone on a special mat to charge it rather than plugging it in. There are some more general improvements as well including a faster processor, better battery life and a more durable screen.

The primary cause of the mixed reception is the price, which is $999 for 64 GB when it launches on the 27th of October. On the higher end of the spectrum, the 256GB version will cost $1,149.

The iPhone 8 and iPhone 8 Plus will launch earlier, on the 22 of September and will include only the general improvements that were featured in the iPhone X such as the new processors and cameras. These two devices will retain the home button and the usual touchscreen design from past iPhones. The devices will launch at $700 and $800, respectively.

The Apple TV 4K will launch alongside the iPhone 8 and 8 Plus on September 22. The previous version of this device would act as a streaming device, allowing one to play digital content from Netflix, HBO, or Hulu on a separately-purchased TV. The Apple TV 4K simply ups the quality of the picture, provided that the television is capable of displaying the full resolution. The device optionally can be paired with a wireless controller to act as a gaming console. This device will have 32GB and 64GB options, priced at $179 and $199 respectively.

Apple also launched several new versions of the Apple Watch, ranging in price from $329 to $1299. These devices in the past have included WiFi and Bluetooth connectivity, and various fitness trackers and sensors. The new devices improve performance, battery life, and software. New features include a GPS, altimeter and barometric sensors, and 4G LTE connectivity. This means that the device is less dependent on an iPhone, and functions better as an athletic accessory.

These devices pose some interesting options for people looking for the latest tech gadgets, and they give us a valuable glimpse into what the future of technology may hold.
