Chargers fan protests NFL for relocating teams

Die hard fans in the NFL are not rare to come by.  They display a lot of unsavory behaviors, but are still some of the most enthusiastic fans out there.  One Los Angeles Chargers fan may have went a little too far this past week.  His name is Joseph MacRae and he has been a lifelong Chargers fan who has not missed a game in 25 years.  It may have all started a little over a year ago when the team decided to relocate to Los Angeles from San Diego, where that had been since 1967.

Well, it seems MacRae had his own idea on ways a heartbroken fan can get back at the team owner and the organization that betrayed him and an entire fanbase. Thusly, he raised a womping $10,000 via a GoFundMe fundraiser, and the profits went toward displaying electronic messages on a billboard that is located less than three miles from the StubHub Center, the team’s new home stadium.  What are displayed on these billboards, you may ask?  Anti-relocation messages were plastered along the freeway for all of Los Angeles to see.  MacRae will produce 5 different images blasting the NFL and it’s decision to relocate teams. The images will display over the next couple of weeks during the Chargers’ homestand.

In addition, he suggested that he didn’t just do this for San Diego Charger Fans.  He also did it for Oakland Raiders’, who will relocate to Las Vegas soon, and Los Angeles Rams’ fans, who were relocated from St. Louis to Los Angeles.  Both organizations and their fanbases also had relocation issues after the Rams were bought out by Los Angeles, giving the city not one but two national football teams.  The Oakland Raiders will be moving to Las Vegas in 2019, leaving a bitter taste in die hard Oakland fans.  Thus far, the moves have not worked out for the Chargers and the Rams, as both teams have been at the bottom of their respective divisions. Only time will tell if the moves work out for these teams.
