Softball extends winning streak to 11

Over the last week, our Behrend softball team competed in six games, all ending in wins.

The first two games took place on Tuesday against Alfred where the Lions returned home with scores of 8-4 and 6-3. The third and fourth games were against Hilbert on Wednesday and the scores ended 11-4 and 10-1, in favor of Behrend. The last set of games were played at their home field on Saturday against Mount Aloysius, where the Lions defeated them 15-4 and 6-3.

In the first set of games, the Behrend Lions took on Alfred for non-conference games.  Overall, the team combined for ten hits in the two games. Allania Banta recorded her second home run of the season and Rachel Miller, Alexa Bupp, and AJ Nichols combined to help secure the wins on the mound.  In the second set of games, Banta and Kristen Kargol each had two hits apiece, and each had a home run. Carson Hauser went 3-for-4 and helped the Lions with two runs. Jillian Williams pitched her first win for the Lions. Banta, Katie Gozzard, and Angela Sullivan each added 2 hits for the first game. In the third and final set of games for the week, the Lions defeated Mount Aloysius at home. The first game was played through an on and off rain, but that did not stop the Lions from hitting four home runs on the day. Banta and Kargol had the first two in the first game of the set, and Nichols and Shannon McDonnell had the third and fourth in the second game of the day. Nichols also went 5-for-8 on the day along with three RBIs and a win in the circle of game two.
