Dolphins' O-Line coach resigns after viral video

A controversial video has emerged online this past week that has caused a stir with the Miami dolphins. The video shows what appears to be Miami Dolphins’ offensive line coach Chris Foerster sniffing a white powdery substance in his office. He is seen with a rolled up $20 bill as he proceeds to brag while recording himself. The Miami Dolphins were made aware of the situation and are currently investigating the matter. They released a statement stating the Miami Dolphins have zero tolerance for this type of behavior and do not stand by his actions. Foerster resigned from his coaching position the very next day. He also released a statement apologizing to the organization, his family, and stating he does intend to seek treatment. Foerster was in his second consecutive season with the organization, and was recently promoted to offensive line coach back in February. He is in his twenty-fifth year in the NFL as well as his second stint with the organization. He previously worked as the offensive line coach for the Washington Redskins for 2010 to 2014. He was among the highest-paid assistant coaches this NFL season.

The video surfaced after a woman who goes by the name Kijuana Nige released it via Facebook last week. It seems she obtained the video after it was sent by Foerster himself. After receiving criticism, Nige took to Facebook to offer an explanation as to why she may have released the video. She displayed her distaste for the NFL and the mistreatment of its players in the wake of protest recently. She also suggested Vice President Mike Pence theatrical exit of the 49ers game may have also triggered her decision. Recently players have chosen not to stand for the national anthem because of the injustice that is happening to minorities all over the country. It has arisen a real debate about race in this country today. In the end she expressed her motives were to “expose the inequalities in the system.”

It was announced Wednesday that the Dolphins will hire David DeGuglielmo, a 12-year coaching veteran in the NFL.  This will be DeGuglielmo second go around with the Miami Dolphins. DeGuglielmo worked the offensive line from 2009 to 2011, alongside Tony Sparano as head coach. In his return he will be Senior offensive assistant, and will work alongside Chris Kuper. As for Foerster, news broke that he had checked himself into rehab facility in Florida. He is currently seeking treatment for substance abuse. The Dolphins stated that although Foerster is not with the organization at the moment, they will help him get through his difficult time. The NFL has said if Foerster returns to the NFL he will face disciplinary sanctions before being reinstated.
