As Halloween approaches, so does the panic to find a creative costume. No worries because here are the most popular Halloween costumes of the year. Of course there are the classics such as witches, animals, a pirate, a vampire, a zombie, and superheroes.
The top costume used this year has been from hit Netflix show, “Stranger Things”. Examples of these costumes include Demogorgon, Barb, Eleven, Joyce’s living room, and more. Therefore if you are a fan of the show, look up the characters common attire because it is likely you can replicate many of the costumes with items in your closet.
Earlier this year, popular 90s nostalgia made it’s way back to theaters with Dwayne Johnson and Zac Efron as stars, making “Baywatch” a popular costume this year. All that is needed is a one-piece red bathing suit for women, and a red jacket and bathing suit trunk for men as well as sunglasses. Another movie that made it big on the screen this year was Gal Gadot’s “Wonder Woman”, making it a very popular idea. It is so popular that local Wal-Mart’s have developed an inexpensive costume. Another movie inspiration that has been a popular costume this year is “Beauty and the Beast”, the most commonly seen costumes being Belle, Gaston, and the Beast.
While movies are a common inspiration for costumes, year after year, politics normally are not. Expect for this year, where President Trump has inspired a lot of costumes. Some have chosen to dress up as him, while others have chosen to take a satirical and comical approach.
For those who do not want to break the bank this Halloween can try some easy and cheap Do-It-Yourselfers (DIY). For example “Fifty Shades of Grey”, in which you can go to your local paint shop or home depot and get various gray shades and tape them on a shirt. There’s also the tourist look in which the basic requirement would be a fanny pack, camera and sunhat. With the increase in popularity of “Game of Thrones”, recently groups of friends have gone as the mother of the dragons and the dragons. The dragons can be done very easily by either printing a picture of a dragon face and wearing it, or by getting a dragon mask. Another easy and inexpensive costume is grapes; all you need are either purple or green balloons. You fill them up and then you surround yourself by them.
If this season you encounter some unexpected party invitations, don’t stress just get dressed because even though Halloween can be scary, finding a costume doesn’t have to be.
