A life without politics

In this past election with Donald Trump and Hillary Clinton, politics became a huge part in people’s lives. Everyone has heard someone say that they don’t trust “her” or they think that “he” is nuts amongst other comments, because every one has their own opinion. An obvious comment is that everyone has the right to vote, but sometimes people choose not to vote. A person could choose not to vote due to the fact that they do not like either candidate, they simply do not care to vote or another reason.

I personally have seen a lot of my friends and family become super involved in politics since this past election. While the debates were going on, I sat in Bruno’s and watched many people fight and bicker during the debates that were being broadcasted. I had to attend those debates because of class and had to write papers on each debate. For me, sitting in Bruno’s listening to the debates, it was like the words went through one ear and out the other.

All my life, I have never been interested in politics. As a kid in school, I learned probably everything there was to learn about history and politics, but I was never interested in it.  When this election began with Donald Trump and Hillary Clinton, I started to realize just how many of the people around me were talking about it on a daily basis. In almost every one of my classes, there would be references to the election and each individual candidate. At this point it seemed like the election with Trump and Clinton was the new toy and everyone just had to talk about it.

I did not understand half of the things that people would talk about when they were speaking about the candidates or the election. I honestly, to this day, tune out when people talk about the current president. My life is a life without politics and it’s great. I have a thousand other things that I am occupied with and I am happy that politics is not one of them. I see how people get angry and upset over the actions of Trump. For me, I see all the news notifications that I get on my phone and 95 percent of them are about him.

My country and beliefs are important to me, but I am not going to spend every single moment of everyday wondering why Trump did what he did last Tuesday. Emotions were high during the election and are still high for those that did not want Trump to be our president. In general it is hard for me to control my emotions on a daily basis, so throwing in the emotions that come with politics are not ideal for me.
