App-inionated: Sidestep

Do you like band merchandise, but not waiting in lines while at concerts? Then, Sidestep could be what you have been looking for.

With Sidestep, you can purchase band merch before, during, or after the show on the app. Once purchased, you can pick your order up at special pick-up locations or even have your order shipped directly to your house. This eliminates a few concerns and inconveniences for concertgoers.

First, you do not have to have cash on you. Of course, most will now accept credit cards, but with this, you do not even have to worry about having your card.

Second, you do not have to carry your purchases around all night. If you order before, during, or after the show you can get it shipped either so you have it for the show or just so you focus on the concert that night. If you order before or during the show then you can pick up your purchases on your way out.

Third, especially if you order prior to the show or get it shipped, you do not have to worry about if they have your size or not. Frequently, popular sizes in popular shirts sell out quickly, so unless you go to the merch tables as soon as you walk in, you are risking the chance that they may run out of your size.

Fourth, and most obviously, you do not have to stand in a long line. It is likely that everyone has at least once wanted to buy something, whether band merch or something else, but has seen the line and been discouraged from buying it.

This aspect brings up not only a benefit for the consumer but also for the artists. If the lines are so long that people are deciding to skip buying something altogether, then the artist is losing out on those sales. With Sidestep, those artists are still able to get the sales that they would otherwise lose.

Sidestep has gotten a lot of support from artists and various others involved in the music/entertainment industry.  Most notably and most recently, they gained support and a partnership from Beyoncé while on her Formation World Tour just this year. Getting an endorsement from Beyoncé meant that Sidestep was involved in arguably the biggest concert tour of 2016 for arguably the biggest female star on the planet; in turn, this greatly legitimized and increased the popularity of Sidestep.

Among the other artists to use Sidestep at their concerts are Carrie Underwood, Adele, Selena Gomez, and Panic! At the Disco.

Using the app is very easy.  It comes up with shows currently happening and once you click on it, the app shows you all of the merch they offer. From there, it is even easier. If you go to any concerts, Sidestep is definitely worth checking out. It is free to download on the App Store for iOS devices.
