Dogtoberfest and locals help raise money for the Anna shelter

The Dogtoberfest festival is an event that benefits all the shelters around Erie. Hosted by The Erie Brewing company at their new location for the first time, they hoped to have a huge turnout. The event was opened to anyone with a furry friend. Partnered with the ANNA Shelter, they brought a few furry friends of their own to try and find their forever homes. The Erie Brewing company is friendly to any furry friend any time of the year, doesn’t even have to be October but they must be kept on a leash.

For the fortunate some of age, guests could drink and taste beers throughout the hours of this festival. Guests also enjoyed the raffles and the wiener dog races. Many of the dogs that were at the festival were dressed up in costumes.

“This is the first time I have been to the Erie brewing company and its such a great addition to our town,” said one guest who enjoyed the festival.

“Anything I can do to get out of the house and blessed enough to see puppies and benefit the shelters I’m happy,” said another guest.

Cars were parked all along knowledge parkway and the surrounding streets for this festival. The turnout was huge.

Erie brewing company tweeted the morning after the event and said, “Thank you so much to everyone who came out to Dogtoberfest last evening! It was a wonderful event and we were able to raise a lot of money for @TheAnnaShelter! Thank you, thank you, thank you! Until next year…”

As small as the community is around Erie, small festivals and charity events benefit everyone by staying connected, as well as caring about something other than the everyday life struggles. Erie locals really care to help ANNA Shelter, as one owner said she adopted her dog from them and she hasn’t been luckier with the support and love given from the shelter.
