Behrend students praise the new food addition to campus

Everyone knows the feeling. It’s too late to have dinner but your stomach is begging for food. The same old microwavable mac and cheese just won’t cut it this time, you need something more. But what? With Behrend’s newest addition to on campus dining, you won’t have to go far.

The Behrend Clipper is a food truck that travels around campus during the day until midnight making designated stops at buildings during certain times to feed our hungry students. It supplies students with breakfast, lunch and dinner. The menu offers a wide range of food that can’t be found while waiting for the grill at Bruno’s.

Sandwiches are on the menu for every meal as well as featured meals that rotate. Waffles can be found as buns for breakfast sandwiches and served paired with the classic chicken and waffles. Candies, chips, french fries and Pepsi products will also be served regularly according to Behrend Campus Living.

Kirsten Chabalie, a junior at PSB is excited about how convenient the food truck is when hungry. In the mornings, it parks by the science building which is “...convenient because now we have more variety,” Chabalie said.

Not only is the location nice but it offers “...options that aren’t your basic breakfast foods, they amp it up,” Chabalie said.

The food and mobility add to the originality because, “It’s something more creative than just putting another brand name into the science building like Tim Hortons in the engineering building” Chabalie said.

While breakfast was a hit, their chicken and waffles was also liked by Nick McCarrell, a sophomore at PSB.

McCarrell also noticed the increase quality, “...they put more effort into making it, better ingredients.”

Not only would McCarrell go back again but he would get the same thing.

Sophomore student, Liz Barber agrees about the quality. She says, “Improved quality and better than Dobbins and Brunos.”

Barber especially likes the burgers and curly fries and claims they are “amazing.”

The food is not the only appeal of the truck as the color and designs also attract students.

The bright blue and orange paint bring a much needed boost to students who need a late night rev up or an early morning wake up. Overall the Clipper provides students of Behrend with a step towards broadening the options for on campus dining.

The strong positive reaction towards the Clipper may be because everyone is excited about having something new to eat on campus.
