Chance the actor?

Hip style with a signature hat. Adorable videos of his child on Instagram and music constantly gracing the radio. For everyone who knows modern pop music, they know the name Chance the Rapper. The Grammy award winner is known for his fun, catchy and upbeat music and his features on songs with artists like Big Sean and Kanye West.

Chance Bennett, commonly known as Chance the Rapper, went on tour over this past summer, growing his fan base, making avid listeners excited to hear his new music and relive his classic hits that got them hooked in the first place.

As of late, Chance the Rapper is now dipping his toes into the acting pool. A trailer has been released for an upcoming movie “Slice,” staring Bennett alongside Will Brill and Rae Grey.  The film is under the direction of Austin Vesely, a former classmate of Bennett’s, with the company A24.

The trailer is closely based off the game “Line Rider.” The trailer isn’t like usual movie trailers that give some sort of outline about the plot. It gives quick glimpses of scenes and the actors in them, showing Chance and a man covered in blood.

The trailer doesn’t divulge too much but the appearance of ghosts give off a Halloween thriller vibe. The clip of someone covered with blood insinuates more of the thriller or murder side of the movie.

The movie’s name and some movie posters suggest a pizza shop or delivering pizza is involved as well as murder. Triangles on posters and in the trailers are representative of the pizza and pizza shop. Personally, I’m excited to see how the two different aspects are incorporated together.

It is not uncommon for famous rappers to double as actors. Donald Glover began his career as a stand-up comedian before holding a consistent role on the NBC sitcom, “Community.”  Now, Glover raps under the pseudonym Childish Gambino though his role in Hollywood has not faltered.  Perhaps most recently, Glover won an Emmy award for creating, directing and starring in the FX comedy-drama “Atlanta,” as well as being featured in “Spiderman: Homecoming.”

Even though the basis of the movie is still widely unknown, Chance the Rapper’s role in this film is getting fans excited to see where his acting career may go.
