When it comes to mobile games, they tend to go in and out of trend, and my current obsession is with the Design Home game by Crowdstar Inc., Which is a premier interactive entertainment company for women.

The company is known for their famous fashion styling game called Covet Fashion, and as of 2016, Design Home. Since it first came out on December 2016, it has been updated 25 times, keeping the game as modern and evolved as possible.

The game begins by the app giving you a standard room to design, and you have numerous amounts of furniture options to choose from. The options you pick will become your beginning inventory, where you get five of each item. For example: you would get five couches, five rugs,  five cocktail tables, five lamps and so on and so forth. It is important to keep in mind that you only get a limited amount of each item, and then you would have to purchase it again. This was not made clear to me, causing confusion amongst my friends and I.

After you enter that first challenge you start off the game with $15,000 in cash, 72 keys (to enter challenges with), and 5,000 diamonds. Then there is a daily challenge that you may enter that will give you a prize of $2,500 cash. There is also a daily reward in which you receive 500 diamonds and 20 keys. As you make it to next levels, you receive prizes such as artwork, table art and floor plants.

When going through the app store and reviewing the game, it seems like a lot of people agree that the game is very good, but it has the potential to be great. A lot of the comments agreed that they love playing the design game but the partnership that the game has with the company TapJoy ruins their experience. Specifically because they award extra diamonds that you can earn in order to play the game, and a lot of the times after much work and energy to earn those extra diamonds, TapJoy fails to provide them.

Alina Sharkey, a Junior Communications major, who plays the game as well, said: “I love it because it is very creative and addicting at the same time. The graphics and display of the game are beautifully designed. The only complaint I have about the game is that you have to obtain 25 keys by voting every time you enter a challenge. I also think a lot of people throw away their votes because it can get annoying to vote so much. Also, the system in order to earn extra diamonds, does not work. A lot of the times they are not awarded to you and it can get extremely frustrating.“

As a player of the game, I believe it is really fun to play, but it could definitely be improved if the kinks are fixed because it would make the gaming experience as a whole, more enjoyable. Overall I really enjoy it, so I will continue to play it until the issue becomes too annoying, in which case, I will delete the app.
